Now Toyota are in trouble !

Post by grandprixdiary » Fri May 13, 2005 8:08 pm

I really have heard it all now...For once, I am not making this up but I guarantee you I'll have a story from it by teatime !

Toyota risk losing their first podium finishes in F1 because of an administrative balls up at the beginning of the year.
They reportedly failed to get their all important competition licence and drivers Superlicence papers done until AFTER the San Marino Grand Prix - which means, they should not have been competing and they could lose the points they scored in the first four races of the year. There is the question that as the papers were not completed that the drivers were therefore not insured. There are a lot of teams, especially those who finished just behind Toyotas podiums who might like to see them forfeit all that hard work.

Oh dear - nice one guys !

Taking the BAR issue, FIA wouldnt see any damage done to the sport and might well take TOYOTA out of the classification...

Or are you just kidding(as I suppose)?

If what you are saying is true(which i hope it isnt)..........then that would be a real upset for everyone who supports F1 (well almost everyone)......the season is more interesting than ever, solely because of all the teams in the running for the championship..........and if toyota were now to fall out of contention then what is gonna happen to the championship.......bad bad news.

F1greyhound and <T-K>, That real! you can read it for yourself in motorsport...

an apart:

Speculation suggests the team may be stripped of its points from the first four races but Howett believes the mistake should not be too harshly punished.

"If they apply a sanction we have to accept it," Toyota motorsport president John Howett told Reuters. "The FIA has the right to apply sanctions but I hope it will be commensurate with the size of the error. We have tried to be completely transparent. This has been blown out of proportion to what we see as an unintentional and fairly minor error relating to the paperwork."

According to Sundays Autosport, the whole matter is being played down by the FIA. Methinks that F1 Racing magazine, who 'broke' the story, are a little short of decent material this month...

There are some people here, who, perhaps because my humour is crap, get my 'real' stories mixed up with the spoof ones, as this thread shows, some thought this Toyota thing was a joke but is wasn't. Mind you - its the sort of nonsense from the FIA that really is...well, a joke. So, to stop confusion, my spoof stories will appear in one thread, and one thread only 'Not the Grand Prix News', and sensible (ish) ones will not.

All clear ? Lovely..

That might simplify your life a tad, Rob
I was thinking of starting a thread "muppets, for the use of", but ED might frown on that. Then there was the one "this is me being serious" thread, but I couldn't think of much to put in it:TOTW:

Toyota get off lightly..Thank God!! :D

Read what that twit Max Mosely had to say:-

Max Mosley, president of the sport's governing body, made a clear distinction between BAR-Honda's cheating scandal and the 'administrative matter.' "I think it's an ... error with no fraud," he said.

Howett said the Cologne based team - which enjoys pitlane's second biggest budget - simply failed to renew the German paperwork. "We do apologise," he remarked, "and feel extremely embarrassed."

And now Moseley will be saying "Boys, you owe me a favour"

Honda & Toyota would now be forced to join FIA beyond 2007.
