Since its' been a little while since the last round of trivia, I thought I'd try something a little different.....its' a music trivia sorta' thing, but using lyrics as the clue to the name of each song(and by extension, band or group)......Just a little something to pass the mid-year period of the motorsports calendar.......
The rules are simple.................
~~whenever a new set of lyrics[a small section, usually part of a verse or an entire verse] are posted, only the lyrics will be posted at first
~~if there's no correct answer after 3 days, one hint will be posted
~~if there's no correct answer still after 2 more days, one additional hint will be posted
~~if there is still no correct answer, a brief explanation of the song lyric, along with the name of the song and the band/group/individual who wrote the song, will be posted.
--each set of lyrics should be up every 10-14 days and this little competition will last through the end of the motorsports calendar
--as far as points go......on the first guess, 5 pts; on the second guess, 2 pts, and on the third guess, 1 pt.
I'll have the first set of lyrics up tomorrow; please post your answers on this thread..........Good luck!

And here is the set set of lyrics......................Good Luck!!!
~~On a long and lonesome highway east of Omaha,
You can listen to the engine moaning out its' one-note song...
You can think about the woman or the girl you knew the night before.
~~But your thoughts will soon be wondering, the way they always do,
When you're riding sixteen hours and there's nothing much to do...
And you don't feel much like riding, you just wish the trip was through.

I believe it is Bob Seger and the song is called Turn the Page.

And I believe, wen, that you are right.........
Written in 1973, the song is about life on the road as a musician and the rigors they face while touring; it shows a side of the musician's life that the public doesn't see, the loneliness and aggravation they face at times. The song has become a mainstay of classic-rock stations across North America and was covered by the heavy-metal band Metallica back in 1998.
5 pts, jacfan.
Next sets of lyrics should be up sometime Monday..........

~~Well, we all have a face
That we hide away forever,
And we take them out and show ourselves
When everyone has gone.
~~Some are satin, some are steel
Some are silk and some are leather,
They're the faces of the ________
But we love to try them on................
Good luck!

Ah a great song by the great Billy Joel... The Stranger.

2 for 2.........Holy ****![apologies for the language.....

Written in the late 1970's, "The Stranger" is about how when we think we know somebody, sometimes we hardly know 'em at all....its' a collective for the unknown things about those we know.......to quote from the song, "Though we share so many secrets, there are some we never tell."

~~Well, you can stake that claim
Good work is the key to good fortune
Winners take that praise,
Losers seldom take the blame....
~~If they don't take that game
And sometimes the winner takes nothing
We draw our own designs
But fortune has to make that frame........
Good luck!

The song to which the lyrics are a part of is about taking a chance, living one's life to the fullest for, quite frankly, nobody knows what will happen from day to day.

Hmmm this is a hard one. I don't seem to be coming up with an answer.
Jeremy thinks it is called Roll the bones or something like that but does not know for sure.

I see I stumped at least one person with this round......
Wen, I'll give you 1 pt. for that, since you did the title of the song right.....the song in question is "Roll the Bones" by Rush.
Current score after three rounds.............

.....so I'm a couple of days late!
~~Tonight there's going to be trouble
Some of us won't survive
See the boys and me mean business
Bustin' out, dead or alive.
~~I can hear the hound dogs on my trail
All hell breaks loose, alarm and sirens wail
Like the game if you lose
Go to jail.
Good luck!!!

Jailbreak by Thin Lizzy
Apologies for being late........
You would be correct, Southerman. Similar in tone to "The Boys Are Back in Town", "Jailbreak" is Thin Lizzy's ode to all the hell-raising one can do on any particular evening; this song was featured in the movie
Detroit Rock City and, like the other Thin Lizzy song, is a staple of classic rock stations.
