Where should a future USGP be held?

Where should a future USGP be held?

Now that it is official, that the United States Grand Prix will no longer be held at IMS, it got me to thinking.............where should a future USGP be held? (With all the manufacturer interests in being in the USA, there should a USGP on the Formula 1 schedule......)

I know, I know, I asked this question once before in another thread, but my answer from that thread stands...........

ROAD AMERICA!!!! Often referred to as "America's Spa"(in honor of Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium), it's an excellent natural-terrain road course that thankfully hasn't been butchered by chicanes or other "safety" features. It's got some very fast corners(the Kink), great passing zones(down into turn 5, and going through the Kink into Canada Corner) and is a drivers' track if there ever was one.

If Formula 1 were to return to the United States, I would hope that the powers-that-be would stage the USGP there. One can only hope......

I'll go for Watkins Glen as it's already used for openwheel racing in America.

It might not be up to FIA standard, but FIA standards are too hard. Some tracks that are getting changed to modern standards have lost their appeal. It's the faults of the tracks that give some places their character. Aslong as the track is safe then race on it.

2nd choice--Watkins Glen
3rd choice--Laguna Seca
(?)4th choice--Road Atlanta

  • Or somewhere in Cali . There's plenty of tracks and deep pockets . Would love to see it back at the Glen also . Long Beach is about the only street course I would want to see , though . 8)
