France or Finland. Will be a tough one. Hope I get to watch it. Now why don't Australia have a team or even some drivers?

Mattias Ekstrom has won the 2006 Race of Champions after beating S?bastien Loeb in the final.
The result was unexpected as the 2 raced in Citroen Xsara WRCs, the car that has taken Loeb to three straight world rally crowns!

Mattias Ekstrom said:
I'm absolutely thrilled to have won The Race of Champions. It's the best moment in my life. Better even than winning my DTM title in 2004. And I'm especially proud to have beaten Loeb in his own car. I knew before that race that it would be tough and I just told myself to go for it. I didn't get off to a very good start but then the adrenalin kicked in and I fought back. Unbelievable.
Sebastian Leob said:
Mattias is quick on a rally stage and also quick on a race circuit. And on top of that he drove very well today. He deserves to be champion. I was especially impressed by his speed in the Xsara WRC. It was close run, but he then left me standing in our race with the Renault Megane Trophy
In the Nations Cup, Finland won it with Heikki Kovalainen and Marcus Gronholm beating the USA.
The USA team was represented by only 1 driver (Travis Pastrana) after Scott Speed who replaced the injured Jimmie Johnson also pulled out due to injury.

Heikki Kovalainen said:
Marcus and I have been trying to win the ROC-Nations Cup since we first formed a team together in Paris in 2004. We were determined to do it this year and now we've succeeded. All credit to Travis though. He drove really well and I had to push as hard as I could to beat him in our two heats together in the final.
Marcus Gronholm said:
It's really Team Heikki ? not Team Finland ? that has won this. It's the first time I've been awarded a cup after not winning anything! But hey, maybe this means my luck is turning and I will start winning from here?

Watching the event he did a pretty good job, beating a lot of recognized drivers in the process. Seems he has made a successfull transition to 4 wheels.
