Russell Ingall on slicks was 3:7 seconds faster than Seton, til he spun in the Chase and parked in the sand.
Speed 290kmh
Cause of spin unknown as yet, the track is dry there.

Possibly a locked up gearbox caused the Ingall spin.

Jason Richards was flying until he ran wide thru the Chase
2:12:209

S. Richards was conservative 2:09:817

Murphy 2 :09 :183 and disappointed with his own performance stating that he thought it was the worst lap he done.

Tander 2:09:665 and said he just wanted to keep the car in one piece

Ambrose bicycled thru the Chase for an extraordinary distance and posted 2:08:857

Skaife just didnt look fast and set 2:09:379

Lowndes was on it and posted pole with 2: 08:599

For the first time in 4 years it will be a Ford front row.

Starting order for The Great Race will be
Lowndes
Ambrose
Murphy
Skaife
Tander
S Richards
Jason Richards
Seton
Jim Richards
Ingall

Enjoy the Race.

Thanks Ed.
The Mountain has been relatively benevolent to the V8 Supercars so far.
There is a school of thought that says it means all hell will break loose tomorrow. I just hope the safety car interventions are minimal.
The weather forecast is for a dry windy day, and staying cool.
It does appear that the Stone Brothers have solved the front tire wear problems that have bedevilled the team for the last 3 years.
Murphy is behind the 8 ball with set-up.
The Skaife cars and Kelly/Tander look smooth.
Lowndes has been quick since thursday, Muller worries me.
Steven Richards is performing quietly and solidly.
His Dad and James Courtney are right up there.
Ingall was unlucky with that gearbox lock-up (confirmed)
My crystal ball is as cloudy as ever, as usual The Mountain will determine who stands on the Podium.
(At least I had Webber in my 8NPole picks.)

There will be an analysis of the race tomorrow.
I am not going to attempt to do a race description durung the event.
Too much is happening at once.
Suffice to say The Mountain has bitten a number of cars, some of them on lap 1.

Lowndes has surrendered a 5 sec lead and is in the pits with a broken Watts linkage after brushing the wall exiting the Cutting.
There was a 5 car tangle at the entrance to pit straight on lap 1. That has put Brad Jones and Tony Longhurst out of contention.
James Courtney/Jim Richards are out afer James hit the wall
