That makes me mad that you would even consider saying that
DLR seems to be pretty confident about his race seat next season. He thinks that he will be able to prove himself during off-season testing. That much is no rumor. Now, that McL has signed a 10 mil Euro worth sponsorship deal with Santander Bank (spanish) kinda makes people talk about a possible all-spanish lineup for McL in 2007.
Maybe it's written into Alonso's contract!? :x

"backwards understood be only can but forward lived be to has Life" Is just an expession in practice we read from right to left for a reason!
Oh but that was my second run Snowy. My first was forward and it clouded my mind so I hoped that by going backwards the clouding would disappear and I can find a proper place to terminate but I became even more clouded that I got involved  :D

The only thing I can think of is that Mclaren want to make the announcement on a particularly auspicious day.

Any ideas anyone?
If they had full confidence in Hamilton they would have announced it earlier. I believe the McL head honchos are trying to play it safe. Now DLR is known to have made mistakes in the past but starting with a rookie (F1 rookie that is) may not pay off. And McL need to get back on top fast.

"Thanks to JB" Thanks to FW for making such awful executive decisions. Cosworth I ask you? :furious:
Looking at Toyota's current form Williams won't be better off next year. I don't think it's right to blame it all on the engine. Williams chassis is not what it had been for the last 6 years.
Wasn't the Williams quick at the start of the season?

If anything is to change it will have to be this month. I doubt anything major can change from December until after the first flyaway races.
Even then I doubt very much that any change will occur at the top 5 or 6 teams (apart from the 2nd McLaren seat of course).

Sam Michael's position is in question but you'd expect major change at Williams after a miserable season.

Those lower than Williams are all new teams and any change in those teams won't be much of a surprise!

They seemed to be. But then went into a free-fall situation and never recovered. Toyota engines are capable, that is a known fact. But if the chassis is not good enough how much good could come out of the car (or the lineup)?

If a team has a number of Superlicenced drivers contracted to it, can they not plonk a driver in as they see fit, up to the startof the first race?

2 Spaniards at McLaren. Did that ever happen ? At any team even ? This would be an interesting statistic!

And I don't think Alonso and de la Rosa are from the same region in Spain  :danger:

What is strange about McLaren is that they sometimes make announcements very early (like the signing of Montoya and Alonso) but on other occassions they leave it until the last minute.

That I agree. However DeLaRosa might have gotten tired of his support role. And the fact that he has tasted success firsthand will surely make people think that he's the right choice. McL F1 administration may be afraid of trying Hamilton and failing, thus facing criticism. That said I would rather see a young driver on the track.

IMHO Toyota simply lacked fast drivers who could supply "development" feedback.....MW is respected up n down pitlane cos he will take the thing by the scruff of the neck and the team gets data.......including tub survival info

True. Apart from the time he spent scraping the walls of Indy Ralf did not do much for the team. Neither did Trulli. However that does not seem to have disturbed anyone cuz they both signed for 3 years apiece. What gives? Maybe it was not the drivers per se.
