Nah

Dont think he's reached that class yet or for that matter the likes of Kimi,Montoya,Alonso,Button,Webber.
He's beaten the likes of Sato,Luizzi,Klien,Pizzy,Alex Young in the junior formulas

Yuoung couldn't make it in V8 supercars up here!

Sato, just doesn't seem to be able to keep it on the black stuff

what do you reckon after San Marino GP?

My thoughts are;

MW - excellent qual, poor start, poor pit stop by team, then struggled due to being slowed down by 2 race old engine (MW quote on www.formula1.com)

NH - ok qual, poor start, ok race

i reckon they are stuffed...not drivers but the team as a whole. obviously if they can't put NH in top 6 with a new engine & MW has to slow down to nurse the car home on 2 race old engine there are some concerns. especially now as BAR & Ferrari are competitive.

agreed....i think thats BMW's only hope. by then they will have the drivers they want - Webber & Button and will have total control of the car.

That williams chassis was an absolute stiff pig., on a track that demands a soft setup, Mark was driving a bloody surf board. # times,I reckon a lesser driver, and there are many, would have thrown the thing off the black stuff. But hey, it was worth watching the race just to see the move on Sato, who ain't no scardy puff

Button i guess would be contracted to Williams and not BMW,so we might not see them together if Sauber-BMW-Webber combo goes thru.

Looking at Williams performance,i doubt Button would be attracted to move to Williams especially knowing he can build a team around him in BAR.

Julian its really a pity to see Webber struggling with tht Williams,looks like Sir Frank has lost the plot of making champion cars

I guess he's more interested in selling his company

Bundy and all, team are driver quotes are available on NewsOnF1 in case you didn't know.

You can access them in a number of ways. From the main grand prix page the quotes for each day are under "What the teams and drivers said"

You can also follow the F1 team news link on the left side navigation of the main site (or at the top left here on the forum) and you'll then be able to access all the F1 teams news.

In any case, the Williams team and driver quotes are available here

Guys Imola is a unique track (all of them are actually

Is it engine ? is it chassis ? is it tyres ? is it driver ?

The engine was marginal so BMW have issues

The chassis, on low fuel Webber got 4th, if it was that bad he wouldn't have got there

The tyres, they started to go from the second stint onwards and the Williams may have been harder on the tyres than some of the others

The driver, sorry julian but taking a place after losing it isn't such a great thing, he lost that place in the first place

Plus he gave a place away to Villeneuve. No excuse just like Button gave a place to Michael on track.

So to me, it seems Williams BMW had more problems with their engine/tyre/driver than chassis

I am not saying the chassis is unbeatable but look at the whole package

Sauber-BMW. Villeneuve will be there

OK I am making the statement, and I am prepared to back it up, that Mark by "wringing thekneck of the the thing, got into 4th for qual
Williams are dreadful at launch control, the chassis was the most rigid of them all including Minardi
and taking the place on the outside of one of the most fearless drivers on the track/ ...this is a wind up, yes?

It is hard to make a judgement on Williams based on their Imola performance.

One thing for sure their launch control sucks. Once they were stuck behind Trulli then it was game over. Then Webber and Trulli pit together that was hard
I think they tried to get Webber out ahead of Trulli giving him less fuel but that didn't work and it stuffed up Webber's race completely losing to Villeneuve, Heidfeld and Ralf!
Instead they should have filled him up more and he would have cleared Trulli eventually just like Villeneuve did!

So I reckon, bad start, bad strategy and perhaps a bit of frustrated driving

yup, I'd be frustrated driving a F1 car that handled like my ute on a skid pan

Yes and no

The Williams may be hard to drive but Webber like in Bahrain may have pushed the car beyond it's limit and that is something he shouldn't do!

And since when do you regard Sato so highly
