Luff, when asked where it was, pulled his soaking wet balaclava from the pocket of his race suit. The official maintains that he did not have it on when he took his helmet off. How many times does a driver pull his balaclava and helmet off in the one motion>
One answer is, very often!!!
Surely a fiscal penalty could exist for such a transgession, this drive thru penaty has just devalued the race for many, many people

Ambrose pitted from 4th to put on a balaclava.
He is back out and furious.
He said over the radio that he has not worn one for 4 years!!
It seems that because this is an international event, balaclavas must be worn. This puts a tremendous heat load on the drivers.
There may well be a balaclava inspection at the end of the race.
There may be some more unscheduled stops

Jamie whincup in the Jason Richards car is slowly pulling up to Tod Kelly, 2:9secs gap. Ellery is third.
Ambrose has screamed down the radio that he wants the entire field checked for correct attire. Does he know something we dont?

The J Richards car got to 3tnths of T Kelly and was then blocked by R Kelly right over the top of the Mountain.
Murphy is 4th I minute off the pace
