This could be the last time we see Marcos Ambrose at the Mountain.
If he succeeds in becoming a NASCAR Star, The NEXTEL cup schedule is one of the most demanding in the world, with rounds being held on almost every weekend in the USA, which would preclude Ambrose from any "guest" drives.
There is still no word from Stone Bros on his replacement. The co-drivers at The Great Race are competing in more than one sense, Luff and Youlden will be under intense scrutiny.
Winterbottom is still contracted to The Stones, and on loan to Orrcan/Larkham Racing, but neither he nor the team have impressed this year. However, it could be the car, not the driver.
James Courtney is another name floating about, if he makes a conspicuous debut.
Another apparantly under consideration is Cameron McConville.
The only people with any real idea are the notoriously reticent Stone Brothers, and they are saying nothing.

GMH Holden are aiming for their 7th win in a row at The Mountain. The marque has scored 25 wins since "The Great Race " began. Ford has scored 14.
Oddly Ford has scored more poles, which demonstrates the car-breaking nature of the circuit.
To finish first, first you must finish.

Snippet:
in a first for V8 supercar racing, the WPS racing team will have amonst their crew a 19 year old female Data Analyst. Kate Millar is no stranger to the pits, her father was a mechanic who was involved with speedway racing.
Kate has had an ambition to pit crew sinc her early teens, and realizes her ambition at The Mountain,
She is one of a number of young people who's career development is being sponsored by team owner/sponsor Craig Gore.

Nice to see. There has always been too much testosterone in the pits. Be nice to see a lot more women in the industry.Julian Mayo wrote:Snippet:

Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

(incidentally, does the GF know about, and share your concern about having more women in the industry?)

A snippet for RAH.
28 yo. Stacey Manning will be in the pits at Bathurst with the Paul Morris Motorsport-Sirromet/Team Kiwi entry.
The data acquisition specialist is continuing the learning curve she hopes will see her as the first female team manager in the country.
It will be her voice the team's drivers hear in their headphones, with terse instructions such as "1st gear pit lane" and "pump brakes". She states she tries to keep communication with the drivers to a minimum to not disturb their rhythm.

You never know, this could be a small advantage for them. US military aircraft have a female voice for all their automated emergency calls. Evidently it is a much nicer experience to have a female voice inform you that you are about to crash.Julian Mayo wrote:A snippet for RAH.

Also most in-car navigation is set to a female voice. Seems that most drivers prefer the female to the male voice.

She's more likely to get a job as a Staff Sergeant Major, with her voicerah wrote:Well obviously that would be a problem. It would probably go something like:
You are going to fast, slow down. I need more money.
And that would be the end of Julian. Best make sure she never gets a job for a sat nav co.

snippet.
FPR have added the colour red to the CAT car of Jason Bright, but will not reveal how or where. Add red to yellow and black and white and the car is certainly going to stand out on The Mountain.
FPR have finshed second in the last two races at Bathurst, and Jason is the last Ford Driver to win the Classic, in 1998. His co-driver David Brabham won the Super Tourer version in 1997.
