In race 1 Lewis had to serve a drive through penalty for speeding in the pit lane!

But he still managed to win the race

what about that then. Mclaren's Chief Operations Officer Martin Whitmarsh said

"Lewis's performance in the saturday race was the most phenomenal I have ever seen in a GP2 race."

They are showing it on tele on Saturday straight after F1 quali so I'll be glued!

Report from GP2 web site on qualifying

Nelson Piquet Jr will start tomorrow?s race from pole position after Lewis Hamilton and five other drivers had their two best laps stripped from them for not heeding yellow flag warnings. Lewis (ART Grand Prix), Gimmi Bruni (Trident Racing), Nicolas Lapierre (Arden International), Tristan Gommendy (iSport International), Lucas di Grassi (Durango) and Javier Villa (Racing Engineering) were the drivers to be penalised.

The decision of the stewards means that Nelson lands pole position and the two points that go along with it. He now leads the championship on 29 points ahead of Lewis on 26 and Nicolas on 25 points.

For the grid tomorrow, Nelson therefore starts first, with Alex Pr?mat second. The second row will feature Adam Carroll in third with Lewis now fourth.

Lewis Hamilton had pole had taken the lead in the championship for about an hour!

Nelson is now in his favourite starting position and Lewis is gonna have to show off again. His quickest lap was a third of a second faster than Nelson's so if he can make those essential overtaking manuvres stick it should be an exciting race.

Last week he was speeding through the pit lane this week ignoring yellow flags what other laws is he gonna break at the next few meets, suggestions please on a postcard.

Race two and there was no overtaking at all not after the first lap anyway.
What a contrast from MotoGP

Piquet goes back into the Championship lead.

Lewis Hamilton has finished this morning?s practice session at the top of the timesheets for ART Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton showed he will be a force to be reckoned with on the streets of Monte Carlo this morning with a powerful display which saw him finish top of an exciting first practice session. The ART Grand Prix driver finished on a best lap of 1:23.116, ahead of Super Nova International?s Jose Maria Lopez and the #1 ART car of Alex Premat.

Lewis put in a balls-to-the-wall qualifying style lap to plant himself firmly on top on a 1:23.401. He was never headed and bettered his lap in the final minutes to his best time of 1:23.116.

Lewis Hamilton dominated Friday?s GP2 qualifying session at Monaco, surging to pole position.

The 21-year-old Briton is rumoured to be in contention for a seat alongside Fernando Alonso at the Woking squad in 2007 and did his chances no harm with an imperious performance on the tricky street circuit.

Hamilton is currently second in the GP2 standings, two points behind Nelson Piquet junior, and has impressed the Formula 1 paddock with his driving in the feeder series so far in 2006.

His time of 1m20.430s was more than two tenths quicker than his closest challenger and puts him in a strong position to win Saturday?s first race.

He will be joined on the front row of tomorrow?s grid by Franck Perera (Dams) with Gimmi Bruni (Trident Racing) third and Alex Pr?mat (ART Grand Prix) fourth. Olivier Pla will start fifth alongside his team-mate and local hero Clivio Piccione, with Adam Carroll (Racing Engineering) seventh, the Campos Racing pair of Adri?n V?lles and F?lix Porteiro eighth and ninth respectively, and Andreas Zuber tenth for Trident Racing.

Championship leader Nelson Piquet Jr will be starting from 12th on the grid! He moaned "Everything is wrong with the car this weekend, we have a terrible set-up and we can't seem to change it much. We improved a bit in the first sector since yesterday but we still have a lot of very hard work to do."

Hamilton takes a comfortable third win of the year

ahead of Franck Perera; Premat third, Piccione fourth, Zuber fifth and Porteiro sixth. Ammermuller and Hernandez round out points. Only four finish on lead lap and 14 cars retire.
