*FERRARI & McLAREN EXCLUDED FROM 2006 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
The paddock at Melbourne has been stunned by a FiA press release announcing the immediate exclusion of top teams Ferrari and McLaren after intensive investigation into rumors that team entries and superlicences were forged and doctored.
FiA representative Loofi di Aprilio stated that the evidence was overwhelming.'The documents were presented for study and it was immediately obvious that something was not quite right. On the documents submitted by the Ferrari team, the holographic picture of Mr.Mosley on the document had had a set of horns,a pair of novelty glasses and a ridiculous moustache crudely drawn on it.'
He went on:'On further investigation,in the section where an official passport photograph for the specified team drivers should appear, one picture was of a small green many-tentacled alien whilst in the other the driver pictured was clearly making an abusive gesture with his tongue whilst a team mechanic was stood behind him wiggling his fingers behind the driver's head'.
The documents tendered by McLaren were also suspect.Mr di Aprilio stated 'In Document 4a,a large grid is reserved for a graphic design of the car to be supplied,in order to ensure it conforms with FiA specifications. In the McLaren document, this grid is filled with games of hangman and battleships and numerous silly doodles.
In addition,in the space for the signature of the team manager, the signature supplied was that of a Mr Mickey Mouse and the main sponsor was given as a Mr S. Claus'.
Both team managers announced they will launch an immediate appeal but the FiA remained resolute.'Tampering with official documents supplied by FiA is a most serious offence and only the most draconian punishment will prevent repeat offences. If the documents they supply for next year are found to be in order, they will be accepted as official entrants for 2007.'
The shock exclusions have meant that this season's World Championship will appear to be a virtual cakewalk for the Renault team and raises expectations that British driver Jenson Button will be able to secure his first Grand Prix victory.
