asking why not is very easy and commodious.... of course in principle there is no reasons why she couldn't....
in the sane way you could ask: why couldn't fly an elephant? ... the same: in principle it cans, you can throw it from a big plane or modify it genetically to fly...
In fact I think there is more probabilities for the elephant to fly freely through the sky then to that girl to win in F1.
I understand you like to be "good" and if there would be a black driver you'd back him too.
you back that girl just because she is a girl. if it'd be a man who came 4th (?) at Indy you didn't even notice him...
in fact that's quite anti-feminist ("machist") from your side to back womans not because they're good, but just because they're woman.
and don't tell me that you notice and back her not just because it's a woman because anyway I won't belive you....as i said, you'd not notice a man with the same rece-records, and if noticed you wouldn't be backing him anyway... that's 100%.

btw it's off topic here...

off topic it might be, but I will refute your argument here, She is one of the best drivers in America, right now. She has attracted the notice of far better judges than me,in Europe, and who say, regardless of the fact that she is a "she", Danica has the potential to win races in F1, with the right education and the right experience. Her drive at Indianapolis was remarkable,. and regardless of who it was I would have noticed that drive. Her race background points to an F1 career. F1 could only benefit from the publicity she would bring, even the Americans might start to watch F1!!
So, Danica Patrick Future WDC!!!!

I think she has been ear-marked by the powers to be,for the publicity as much as her undeniable skill, and will make it to F1, unless she stuffs up bigtime beforehand. Whether she makes IN f1 will be interesting. She certainly seems to have the necessary determination and ambition to succeed at the top level. :D

The way you ask the question there is only one answer "Yes" - Ofcourse she can make it in to F1. She is a racing driver, who have managed to get the results needed to get a super license.

So bring Usd 5 million to Minardi and she has made it into F1.

If you mean "Will she be a successfull F1 driver" - Then I am not so sure, I watched the last half of the Indy 500 (only part they showed), and she had obvious speed there. A final placing as 4th is a very fine performance in anyones book.

But......

Look at her results in all the classes she have raced in, she place a lot but basically never wins. If you can not win in Formula Atlantic, then I can not see you cut out to be a successfull F1 driver.

Politically incorrect as it is, Robbie Gordon was correct in raising the issue of weight. At Indianapolis there is no weighing drivers with cars, for a set total weight of the car/driver package. She is a petite woman at 100 lbs, and the Burger gouging Gordon is a little more than 200 lbs. That will give a difference over a lap of some 0,1 second!! Running 200 of those, she did have a significant advantage.

I have no idea of the weight of Weldon or any of the other male drivers.

I would like for a female driver to make it to F1, and I can not see anyone better than Patrick, but I honestly do not see her as having enough to become a successfull F1 driver.

I don't know where you got your stats from but you better check your resources.

There have been females in F1, sure none of them won but unless you come up with a reasonable explanation don't compare female drivers to flying elephants. That is anti-feminist

When Alonso won in Hungary 2003, he got a lot of attention. Why ? Because he became the youngest ever F1 winner
When Danica Patrick led the Indy 500 and eventually finished 4th, she got a lot of attention. Why ? Because she became the first female to ever lead an Indy 500 and the having the best ever result by a female.
Absolutely nothing anti-feminist about that. In fact she will give females in the lower formulaes a big boost.

Now, have you ever heard of Michelle Mouton ?

If you haven't let me tell you that she won 4 rounds of the WRC and in 1982 nearly won the title. Yes the WRC Title
She also broke the record for Pikes Peak
Proof that females can make it in Motorsport. Hard but not impossible. And it will happen and when it does I guess you will be shocked.
Danica could be the one. But it is too early to tell if she will win in F1 or not. She certainly seems to have the potential!
I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!

2.Of course it would be good for F1 in terms of marketing to have a womman, I'd be happy and i'd be nyeresting to see her racing... but saying she's a future WDC???

Cheers!!!

If there is one thing I know, it is that there is few thing in life that men can do that women cannot. I can see no reason for her not to come across to F1 and be succesfull. It would be great if it could be her. I am sure there are less talented drivers on the F1 grid right now. It takes a lot for a women to be noticed and promoted let alone successful in motorsport.
Ok, Lewis may win the WDC in 07, but Sato will beat him in 08.

You asked the question mate. If you don't like the response, you can take your question and shove it up your..... Yeah I know Ed, I will shut up.

But seriously SGD, YOU have to think about your responses. Besides the fact that your post is about 40 years behind the times, maybe you could be a bit more polite. I posted the reply with my honest feelings. I do believe that women CAN be as good as men in F1. I also believe that MS is one of the best drivers in the history of motor sport. And 7 WDC's back me up in this regard.
