Post by <T-K> » Thu Oct 11, 2007 2:18 am

Oct.10 (GMM) Fernando Alonso in Japan two weeks ago was shown details of Renault's plans to return to the world title in 2008 and beyond -- including detailed information about next year's R28 single seater, according to reports.

Spanish sources including the magazine Autopista says the 26-year-old reigning world champion met with Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds on the Saturday at Fuji Speedway, where they discussed a possible two or three-year contract starting in 2008....

Wouldn't surprise me; after all, Alonso won his two WDC's at Renault and, unlike Fisichella this year, Fernando was the clear #1 driver at Renault........maybe he's feeling a little bit of buyer's remorse over moving to McLaren and wants to go back

And if he ends up winning another WDC title with Renault... That'd be a major accomplishment.

After reading that article and now finding out that the FIA has appointed a special scrutineer to watch over Hamilton's car at Brazil - how could Alonso carry on at McLaren :?:
