The first driver to be dumped in 2007 ?

Post by Ed » Tue Jun 05, 2007 9:36 pm

I guess it is the right time of the season to start speculating about the first driver to be dumped this season.
I know Julian started months ago!!

I've put up a poll with the names of a few drivers who seem to be candidates for such but if you want more added, please let me know.

To add a bit of fun, you can add a scenario as well

Note: The list of drivers above does not reflect my opinion of them, I just put up the names based on what I've read in the 'Rumours' thread :D

Hmm, the fact that you chose to list Ralf as #1 choice says something

Ok, the criteria regarding the order was the number of mentions a driver gets and I guess Ralf is mentioned a lot.

Having said that, I would tend to agree that Ralf would be a possible candidate for replacement especially knowing how Toyota have made decisions in the past.

Heikki wouldn't be much safer though, recall what Flavio did to Trulli in 2004 even though he won the Monaco Grand Prix!

Good thing that Kovalainen wasn't anywhere near the top then

Maybe this should go into the rumors thread but it's relevant here as well:

Apparently Ralf offered Toyota a new contract worth US$ 30 mil. Toyota naturally turned him down. Ralf's manager says that the rumor ain't exactly true (the sum of money at any rate) but they have been talking to the Toyota F1 management. The manager claims that it is a rumor invented to make Ralf the scapegoat for Toyota's bad results and accelerate Ralf's sacking.

I guess Ed was right to put him up there as #1 candidate...

It is difficult to blame the Honda drivers for the bad results as neither one shows any dominance over the other. The problem is in the car, not the drivers.

The entire Honda team should be sacked!!!

I half expect Ralf will get replaced by Mark Webber before the end of the year.

And The Swamee sez:

David Coulthard will retire at years end along with Rubens Barrichello.

Nelsinho Piquet Jr will foolishly jump ship and take Rubinho's place at the adrift-at-sea Honda team for next year. He is not very popular with Renault of late.

Jenson Button will shock all by first announcing he will retire then take DC's place at Red Bull.

Gil deFerran will attempt to lure Pedro delaRosa to take over Jenson Button's race seat at Honda (bringing with him knowledge of the inner workings of the McLaren), but PDLR will decide to stay put. They will eventually get Gary Paffitt.

Red Bull will surprise all by announcing Graham Rahal as Mark Webber's replacement sending shock waves through the Red Bull hierarchy.
Christoforo

You're not getting old, the music just sucks!!

Fernando Alonso is currently the best... Period!!!

Or Honda and Toyota will both quit F1 racing... How about that? :)

DC and Rubens will probably both retire. It'd be sad for Rubens though if he cannot score a few points in his final season.
