Adrian Sutil to race for Spyker F1 in 2007

Post by Ed » Thu Dec 21, 2006 9:29 pm

In a suprise announcement from the Spyker F1 team, Adrian Sutil will be driving alongside Christijan Albers in 2007.

Team Principal Colin Kolles said:
This is a great signing for team but also a proud one for me personally. Adrian made his F3 debut with Team Kolles in 2004 and quite obviously had huge potential when he scored his first pole position in his third race. He has driven for two great teams since then and matured very quickly. Everyone at Spyker was hugely impressed when he drove for us in 2006 which is why we have worked long and hard to get him in the race team.
Adrian Sutil said:
I really enjoyed being in the F1 Paddock this year and to be honest I thought I would be a test driver in 2007. Colin Kolles and Michiel Mol have been fantastically patient and supportive while this package became reality. I look forward to repaying their faith in me but right now I`m just going to enjoy the best Christmas present ever.
Only the 2 Toro Rosso seats remain to be confirmed.

He'll be okay I guess. But will he be better than Monteiro? That I doubt.

Regarding STR seats I'd have Liuzzi in one, Piquet Jr or some similar fella in the other. Definitely not Speed.

Who is Sutil ?

I think Spyker like all the small teams will get the driver who brings the most money into the team.

Monteiro ? He was slow

Speed ? Don't know why many don't rate him. I think he was OK. I haven't looked up the stats on him but if I recall correctly he and Liuzzi were pretty much matching each other.
I'm back and yes supporting Alonso "The Cute" in the Ferrari!

Test driver for MF1 on three occasions during the 2006 F1 season. Money-wise they are doing quite okay but some more dough never hurts in the world of F1.

Yes he was. But whether Sutil can be faster than him or not was my point.

The STRs were pretty much reliable, so I'd have expected a few more points from Speed and Liuzzi. Liuzzi did only marginally better than Speed. However that was not the main reason why I'd rather have him out of the team. It was his attitude and liberal use of profanity that got him into my blacklist. I agree that any driver has a right to voice his opinion but must also exercise proper restraint. Especially given that Speed was just a rookie at the time... He should have his driving do talking. And he ain't exactly driving cattle in Oklahoma.
