Vettel, surely, must be driver of the day.

Supreme pace, effortless victory, only slightly under pressure at the end.

Button also did very well, I thought.

Looks like most of the voters have disagreed with you. Paul di Resta seems to be the crowd favourite.

Aye, I slightly forgot about di Resta, who did very well indeed.

In retrospect, I would change my driver of the day, but to Button rather than di Resta. He (Button) had a stomach bug and lost some weight due to dehydration, so to do so well in a race where hydration is an issue even for a healthy driver is excellent.

I think di Resta is easily the best of the newcomers, and could be a potential world champion in a few years, but I think his sixth place was impressive rather than superb.

my vote went to Button this week. Easy to win in the best car and from the front.

I think that does a slight disservice to Vettel.

He's consistently and significantly outperformed his team mate. Yes, the Red Bull's a great car and has mostly been the fastest in races (although McLaren could've won in Monaco and Spain) but he's still driving extremely well.

I did not mean to insinuate that Vettel did not deserve the win or even DotD, my point was that it is a lot easier to lead from the front than to play catch up. Obviously he is a great driver. He could not win back to back championship wins by just being in the top car and being in the front but it sure makes it a tad easier.

I did not mean to upset you. Just giving my opinion for what it is worth.

Np, jacfan. I wasn't upset, I just disagree (with the Driver of the Day).

I do agree that it's a lot easier to drive away at the front. During the race (particularly about 12-15 laps from the end) it struck me that Singapore seems to be one of those that naturally creates gaps between the cars (plus Vettel's been driving well all season). For a long while there was a reasonable gap from Vettel to Button to Webber to Alonso.

Singapore's not a favourite of mine. I'd rather axe it and keep Turkey, though I understand the commercial reasons why this hasn't (and won't) occur.

Come 2013, when the big teams may be changing their lineups, it'll be interesting to see if di Resta gets a chance with a front-running team.
