Here is the late-race footage from the 1982 Indianapolis 500, when two old bulls, Gordon Johncock and the Oval Meister, Rick Mears, raced to the then-closest finish of "the Greatest Spectacle in Racing".

In 1992, Al Unser, Jr. and Scott Goodyear raced to what is now the closest finish at the Brickyard, which led to Little Al's classic postrace quote, "You just don't know what Indy means."

More to follow........

Highlights of the 1995 Indianapolis 500, remembered for two differing things..........1--this was the last pre-split 500, and 2--the race was won by then-Players/Forsythe Racing driver Jacques Villeneuve who IMO got a "gift" victory when the officials penalized Scott Goodyear for supposedly passing the pace car(when it was the pacecar that couldn't get its' --- outta' the way before a late restart)

Highlights of the 1990 Indianapolis 500, won by "Flying Dutchman", Arie Luyendyk, Sr. and which remains the fastest-run 500 to date
