Actually most the quotes are concentrated on the tyres
Anyway, everything will become clear soon. I still doubt they will be able to run the 06 Honda. |
We'll wait and see about the Aguri. I agree that they won't be able to run the 06 spec car but life's strange

I wish we could have Kimi and Alonso join the test and set some times too. It'd have been really interesting.
BTW, Kovalainen and Kubica's times are not half bad. _________________ In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. - Douglas Adams (1952-2001) |

Unfortunately due to contracts with other teams, we will not see Alonso nor Raikkonen in a Formula 1 car until early January.
I was surprised Williams released Webber early to be honest! _________________ Your predictions in 2010 - Drivers - Constructors |

Yeah I know. Pity all the same.
Williams are always taking weird steps. Lately they screwed up pretty bad considering the Webber situation and before that Button... Ralf and JPM too... If that's the case Bernie and Max should have gone long time ago for the collective good _________________ In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. - Douglas Adams (1952-2001) |

I couldn't agree more, Bernie is older than my mum who retired from the post office 25 years ago. _________________ Lewis Hamilton & Jenson Button World Champions

Toyota are the only team testing today.
Trulli is currently fastest with a 1:16.557 while Ralf isn't too far behind with a 1:16.920 _________________ Your predictions in 2010 - Drivers - Constructors |

I am not really surprized by the Williams' lack of pace
Expected RBR to be a lot quicker
Nice to see BMW Sauber in the top 4
Pity Fonzi and Kimi werent testing.....damn contracts _________________ "I allow a lot of room for improvisation and funny stuff. I always feel planned." Michael Bay |

What surprised me most was Toyota. I would have expected to see them above some of the Michelin users. If they hadn't corrected the situation today I would have crossed them off my list _________________ In the beginning the Universe was created. Both Toyota drivers have set impressive times on the last day of testing!
Jarno Trulli set a 1:15.936 while Ralf Schumacher set a 1:15.976.
Those are the fastest times set during this test!
Here are the lap by lap times from today's session
Quotes from the Toyota team:
Dieter Gass, Chief Engineer Race and Test
| Quote: |
| The team made some good progress in understanding the 2007 tyres and we're pleased with the consistent behaviour and performance we experienced throughout the week. We put in some quite quick lap times and the circuit was for sure in a very good condition after the three-day test this week, with a very high level of grip. Overall we are quite satisfied with the results we have achieved during this test but we still need to be working on improving reliability. |
Olivier Panis - Test Driver (Day 1)
| Quote: |
| Following the morning rain the track was damp and the conditions were not ideal, but after that everything went smoothly and we could start investigating the new Bridgestone tyres. From what we can tell so far they are very consistent and there are no warm-up issues. Obviously they are harder than the tyres we have been running during 2006 so there is less grip than what we have been used to. But it is the same for everyone and the fact that everyone is now on the same tyres is good because it means we have a level playing field. This tyre will be a good basis for everyone to begin their work for 2007 and now it is up to us to build up our package to make the most of it. I am next scheduled to return for my final test with Toyota in F1 at Jerez in a fortnight's time. |
Kamui Kobayashi - Test Driver (Day 1)
| Quote: |
| I am obviously delighted that Panasonic Toyota Racing has given me the chance to test the Formula 1 car here as part of my role in the Toyota Young Drivers Program. Today was my first F1 test and it was a very enjoyable experience. Everything is completely different from the Formula 3 cars that I have been driving this year - especially the power of the engine and the braking - so I have to concentrate harder than ever. I made a mistake just before lunch and went off but there was no damage and we were able to put in a lot of laps without any other problems. The G-forces are a lot stronger than I have been used to, but my neck doesn't feel too bad so far. Of course, that's only one day and I'm sure I will have to train harder to be able to cope with the forces over longer periods. I still have a long way to go to improve but overall it was a good day. I am next scheduled to test the car next week at Jerez so I look forward to gaining some more experience of F1 there. |
Ralf Schumacher (Days 2 & 3)
| Quote: |
I have enjoyed the break from driving but it was good to be back behind the wheel today. We have really started preparing for next season now, especially in terms of the tyres. These new tyres have less grip as they are of a different construction. But they are good to drive on and they make the car a bit easier to handle. They are a little bit slower but a bit more sliding is possible so that makes it more fun and they are also a little bit easier on the limit. It's too early to say for sure but they seem all right.
Jarno Trulli (Days 2 & 3)
| Quote: |
| It is good to be back driving again even if we didn't do as many laps as I would have wanted as we had to change a few things on the car. Obviously today's testing was all about the tyres and my first impression of the new tyres is that they are pretty consistent even if they are definitely a bit slower than last year's. They seem to work well but we need to work on the set-up in order to make the most of them. |
In other news regarding Toyota, the team appointed Toyota Motor Corporation Managing Officer Tadashi Yamashina as the Vice Chairman of Toyota Motorsport with the aim of strengthening their Formula 1 technical development and race strategy structures.
Toyota Motorsport Chairman Tsutomu Tomita said:
| Quote: |
| With the addition of Yamashina as vice chairman, the three of us, including (Toyota Motorsport President) John Howett, will challenge to lead our team to its first victory. |
