Re: The 2017 Monaco GP Thread
This weekend sees the running of the 75th Monaco Grand Prix.
With the new cars with a wider track, I am in a bit of a conundrum. Just how many drivers will be caught out and clip a barrier?
Anyway, for the race, here are my choices and why.
1st: Sebastian Vettel. A lot will depend on the weather but this is one track where strategy and a little pace can get you to the front.
2nd: Lewis Hamilton. No show without Punch they say. Will be almost on the money but not quite.
3rd: Daniel Ricciardo. The Red Bull goes well around here. It is a little down on power but that shouldn't affect it too much.
4th: Max Verstappen. Read above. Maybe still a little raw for this demanding circuit.
5th: Valtteri Bottas. I am liking him in the Mercedes, just not here.
6th: Kimi Raikkonen. Good on his day, just not this day.
7th: Sergio Perez. The Force India is a revelation at this stage of the season.
8th: Carlos Sainz Jr. I do like this kid. He just does the business in the car that isn't quite up to the level of the preceding selections.
9th: Filipe Massa: Has good days and bad days. This one may be somewhere in the middle.
10th: Esteban Ocon: The run of point scoring finishes will continue.
Pole: Sebastian Vettel

FP1 Results
In this session, drivers got down to business testing themselves and their cars on this challenging circuit.
Jenson Button showed that he had lost none of his touch keeping his McLaren's times close to his team mate.
A few were testing the extents of the track with some light rubbing on the armco.
Aside from Max damaging his undertray, the session yielded little damage to the field.

FP2 Results
Again most drivers behaved themselves.
Palmer's Renault had an engine problem.
Lance Stroll's Williams hit the barrier at Massenet bringing his practice session to an end.
Probably the most surprising thing is that both McLarens have now completed 2 practice sessions.
The pace of both drivers in the Toro Rosso's is also impressive.

Overall, it was a good day for McLaren getting both of their cars into Q3 for the first time for this generation of cars.
Vandoorne then sticks his McLaren into the barrier coming out of the swimming pool complex to close Q2.

Re: The 2017 Monaco GP Thread
Bit hard to give a driver of the day. Worst driver would be Button, for that stupid and unnecessary 'pass' attempt which brought out the safety car. Vettel and Ricciardo both drove well but were assisted by Raikkonen, Bottas and Verstappen being compromised by traffic.
