This weekend sees the inaugural running of the European Grand Prix in Baku, Azerbaijan.
This Hermann Tilke designed track is novel to say the least with its long, wide straights and narrow, twisty section which connect the tourist sites of Baku. This track is the second longest on the 2016 calendar at a distance of 6 kilometers (approx 3.7 miles). With a front straight of 2.2 km (1.4 m), there is room for the cars with the most horsepower to stretch their legs. Top speeds are expected to be over the 340kph mark making this the fastest street circuit ever.
Will this change the status quo?
My feeling is that the Mercedes duo will still be at the top but the Ferrari, Williams, Force India will surprise. Red Bull, with their latest engine upgrades may feature in the bottom end of the top 5 but their comparative lack of horsepower may hinder any chances of victory.
