We return to Austria for a second time this weekend and what have we learned?
1. Mercedes are not as dominant as in previous years. Yes, if their ducks all fall into line, they can get home with both the top spots on the podium but their cars aren't the same as in previous years. Maybe it was a bad batch of sensors that caused both to maintain a slightly less dominant pace. Who really knows.
2. Ferrari don't have the pace of 2019. This incarnation of a race car isn't anywhere near a good as previous years. Qualifying was disastrous for both Leclerc and Vettel. Again, Ferrari we in the right place when it hit the fan to capitalize on the problems incurred during the race.
3. Red Bull do not have the same qualifying pace as Mercedes. Race trim, the car is somewhat close however the right strategy and a lot of lock will see them at the top.
4. Racing Point have a wonderful machine this year. In the hands of Sergio Perez, this thing is a weapon. Again not quite at the top but a solid podium candidate.
5. McLaren have a wonderful chassis however their Renault power unit isn't up to scratch. Sure, Lando Norris did the fastest lap on the last lap of Austria Mk.1 but the opportunity only presented itself due to extremely unusual circumstances.
6. Renault are a mid field team. Daniel Ricciardo did qualify in the top 10, just. Esteban Ocon brought his home in the points but only 11 cars crossed the line. Finishing virtually guaranteed points.
7. AlphaTauri also seem to have gone nowhere. The Honda seems to be reliable but it's just not happening for them.
8. Alfa Romeo, Haas and Williams are still supporting the bottom end of the field. Williams have gone forward while the others haven't gone anywhere.

So now is their chance to prove me wrong. The teams have 5 days to turn things around to show me that the event of last weekend is a statistical anomaly. Bring on Austria Mk2!

Daniel Ricciardo lost the rear of his Renault and ended heavily into the tyre barriers in the next to last corner. He is fine, the car not so.
