2006 British MotoGP - (Pedrosa Wins) Your Thoughts?

Post by <T-K> » Thu Jun 29, 2006 1:32 am

The Donington Park circuit was built in 1931, with the sole purpose of hosting motorcycle events, but had to close down during the second world war....some 30 years later it was reopened, and is now regarded as one of Britains top circuits, with a recently upgraded pit section, race control and media complex.

The circuit has a fast flowing first half which gives way to a slow section of tight corners, which means that a rider needs to combine smooth racing and good corner speeds, with some last gasp braking and hard acceleration, which makes for some very thrilling racing..

Circuit: Donington park
Location: Donington
Pole Position: Left
Right Turns: 7
Left Turns: 4
Length: 4023
Longest Straight: 564m
Width: 10m

Previous winner: Valentino Rossi

Yes it''s a bit optimistic however he himself is quite confident and he's usually unstoppable at Donnington. And if I'm truthful I only chose them so I could reproduce the Italian tricolor! 8)
I'd like Dani to win but his Spanish so it wouldn't have worked.

Not the most exciting race of the season by my standards, although the fight for second was quite good.....

Well done to Rossi and Melandri, they raced very well, and it would be hard to pick a rider of the day out of these two!!!

Pedrosa a great recovery after running extremely wide at the hairpin, and just managing to hold on to the bike, a good win for him.....He could still take the championship if Hayden is not careful.....

The championship leader Nicky Hayden came in in a very unimpressive seventh!

That makes it 3 wins for Rossi, 2 wins for Pedrosa, 2 wins for Melandri, 1 for Capirossi, and 1 for Hayden.....5 different winners from the first 9 GP's....who wouldve thought it would be this close after last years Rossi dominance...

Decent race overall

Next Race: MotoGP of Germany, Sachsenring

Pedrosa had the "Bike of the Day". Hayden is on the development bike, and was struggling with the bits he had to try out for Pedrosa.
I think it is safe to say that JB and the boys have fixed the problems with the Yamaha.
Good to see Stoner settle for what he could get, after wringing the neck of the beast, instead of highsiding into the boondocks.....what could he do on a factory bike ?
Ride of the day = Melandri, for sheer guts.
:P
