2007 MotoGP of Britain - Donington park
Valentino Rossi and Championship leader Casey Stoner commence round eight of their titanic MotoGP battle at the eagerly anticipated Donington Park event this coming Sunday.
Rossi loves the place and has been adopted by the British fans. He has won seven times at Donington, including five premier class victories and his first ever premier class victory seven years ago. It promises to be another classic encounter between ‘the master of Donington' and the young pretender who has shown no respect for Rossi's formidable reputation and in the opening seven rounds.
Former 125 and 250cc World Champion Loris Capirossi won his very first grand prix at Donington 17 years ago and since then has gone on to win 27 more races including two more at Donington. He partners Stoner at Ducati and lies eighth in the Championship just six points in front of another veteran, Brazilian Alex Barros who's returned from the World Superbike Championship to ride the Pramac d'Antin Ducati.

After a number of crashes this season, which resulted in numerous injuries and missed races, former 250cc world champion Jacque will return to the role of Kawasaki test and development rider. Istead Anthony West will be taking over his race seat...
The 25-year-old Australian has previously won in the wet on both 250cc GP machinery and, more recently, in the World Supersport championship. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Ant more than held his own today, spending much of the second practice session dicing with John Hopkins and Casey Stoner for first place.
West put in his fastest lap of the day right at the end of the afternoon to take fifth position - seventh on combined times - and believes there's plenty more to come.

It's ridiculous really, I don't think any other British track is this bad in the wet, and to have a world championship race here with bikes doing these speeds is just a little bit wrong," said Stoner. "Since they resurfaced the track it's got worse than what it was before in the wet, it's become dangerous.
