CLIPSAL 500, ADELAIDE

Post by Julian Mayo » Thu Mar 01, 2007 1:47 pm

The 2007 V8Supercar season commences this weekend (At Last),
with the CLIPSAL 500, around the streets of Adelaide.
Consisting of a 250km race on both Saturday and Sunday, it is renowned as one tough weekend.
The action commences with two practice sessions and qualifying on Friday.
Saturday and Sunday have a warn up session, then the races
Each race consists of 178 laps.
Following the controversial end to last season, the Starter may well use a Bell to signal the start of Round One. Certainly, I would not like to be one of two or three Holden drivers, on the outside of a certain Ford driver, thru one or two of Adelaides notorious high speed corners.

In Breaking News HRT have been given dispensation to run this weekend,....Skaife Sport, which runs HRT then has two weeks (Til March 11) to satisfy TEGA and V8Supercars Australia as to Team Ownership Requirements, or The Team will be expelled from the Championship !!
Toll/HSV was cleared last week.

Details of practice results and qualifying, plus the Races will be posted here.
Entries in the V8Supercar 8nPole Tipping competition must be in by 9:45 am Friday

New Zealand TV times. None of it live.

Qualifying: Sat 0:20am-1:20am

Race 1: Sun 3pm-6pm Full race coverage

Race 2: Sun 11:15pm-Mon 2:30am Full race coverage.

With times to watch like this I would be happy if Sky TV take over and show it live. We still get the Australian commentators.

With the times being so close, methinks the F1 style qualifying might see one or two cranky drivers storming up pit row to have words with other drivers deemed to have baulked them. Will HRT/TollHSV employ similar alleged tactics to Phillip Island?

If John Bowe gets over the start line tomorrow, he will equal Peter Brock, for the most starts in Austalia's premier touring car series

James Courtney is imho the best driver in V8Supercars........the massive shunt when a part broke on the Jaguar F1 in testing stopped his F1 aspirations......but I think the guy has won every class he has competed in, world wide
