20 February: Bad weather disrupts testing at Imola. The Sauber team continued testing at Imola today however the bad weather severely limited the amount of testing. Jacques Villeneuve and Felipe Massa were present and only managed a handful of laps. Sauber's Chief Race Engineer Jacky Eeckelaert said "Originally we had planned for Felipe to test Michelin tyres for the Imola race in April, and Jacques was supposed to run a race simulation. However, due to the bad weather conditions and in consequence the cold track surface the tyres didn't reach the necessary operation temperature. Under these circumstances testing had been too dangerous and moreover pointless. We will see tomorrow morning if the weather and track conditions will allow us to complete our test. "Nonetheless we are happy that we didn't have this situation yesterday already, but that we were able to run a lot of laps to gather valuable data." Sauber continues testing at Imola tomorrow. On Monday Williams, McLaren and Ferrari will commence testing at Valencia to be joined by Toyota and BAR on Tuesday. Renault will start their final test on Monday at Silverstone.
