16 February: Giancarlo Fisichella fastest on day 2 at Barcelona. BAR continue testing at Valencia

Testing continued today at the Circuit de Catalunya in preparation for the start of the Formula 1 season. Giancarlo Fisichella went more than half a second faster than the time set by Alonso yesterday setting a time of 1:14.408. Ricardo Zonta was second a tenth behind with Fernando Alonso third fastest and 0.15 seconds behind.

Jarno Trulli covered the most number of laps with 122 followed by Juan Pablo Montoya with 119 and both David Coulthard and Rubens Barrichello with 116 laps each.

Pedro de la Rosa took over from Kimi Raikkonen who crashed heavily yesterday. The McLaren mechanics repaired the car overnight and during the morning.

Rubens Barrichello joined the test today running the second F2004M and set the 8th fastest time with a 1:15.912. Team-mate Michael Schumacher only managed 12th fastest with a time of 1:16.188.

At Valencia the BAR Honda team is continued testing privately. Jenson Button and Takuma Sato were on duty with Sato driving the BAR007 while Button was driving the modified BAR006. Button completed 97 laps while Sato covered 57. No times were available.

Testing continues tomorrow.
