28 January: For the first time in winter pre-season testing, the Ferrari F2004M and the
McLaren MP4-20 were being tested at the same track.
McLaren have been testing at the Barcelona track privately since Monday (24/1) while today both Ferrari and Sauber commenced
testing.
Michael Schumacher drove the - modified for 2005 - 2004 Ferrari and set a best time of 1:16.003 while Juan Pablo Montoya driving
the MP4-20 set a best time of 1:16.398.
At Valencia, testing concluded today with Renault topping the timesheets with BAR and Toyota also running their 2005 cars. At
this stage it seems that the Renault is ahead of the BAR with Toyota further back. BAR continue to suffer engine failures which
isn't a good sign.
While test times can be very misleading, it is pleasing to see the times are close.
Ferrari continues testing at Barcelona while the McLaren team take a short break before conducting a 3 day test in Valencia next
week.
